We are a family of certified NRA instructors our passion for the sport of shooting has brought us to teach others.
Matt Knowlton
A former volunteer firefighter/emr
a full time production worker. Matt has always had a love for firearms and shooting whether plinking in the backyard with a pellet gun while growing up and then going and getting his original Ct Permit in the 80's
he's always enjoyed sharing his knowledge with people and explaining the workings of a firearm. with a nudge from his wife Lisa he went on to go for NRA training and become a pistol instructor and now he continues to educate himself with more ongoing training.
Austin Knowlton
A welder and fabricator by trade. a shooter from a teenager an avid weekly shooter of all firearms Austins specialty is not only pistol teaching but rifle teaching as well. Austin shoots competitively weekly and has of vast knowledge of safety fundamentals and all the workings of firearms.
Lisa Knowlton
started shooting about 5 years ago after taking her permit course just to learn to shoot now she shoots weekly and is very proficient in pistol shooting. Lisa has been a healthcare worker for 38 years her caring personality is a fantastic additive to class. her attention to detail when teaching a pistol class is incredible. Lisa's specialty is basic pistol class

Basic pistol class your first step in obtaining your CT pistol permit takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. Course topics include gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range.

Private lessons offer immediate improvement of basic and advanced skill sets, in a confidential and secure setting. This one-on-one attention to your personal gun handling skills creates a positive and comfortable learning environment conducive to rapid improvement in a compressed time frame
The Pistol Refresher class is for those pistol owners who have not had the opportunity or time to stay proficient in shooting.
In this 2+ hour class we will reinforce safe pistol handling, refresh your shooting fundamentals such as stance, grip, aiming and follow through, then do a bit of practice shooting where we will coach you to help improve your pistol skills.
Students will require a functioning pistol and 50 - 100 rounds of ammunition (depending on how much the student wants to shoot).
We provide the targets and coaches.
Class size is limited to 6 students to offer each student individual attention.
"NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course"
This is the class required by the State of Connecticut to obtain your Long Gun Eligibility Certificate.
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle shooting. It is an eight hour course and includes classroom and live fire range time. Students will learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.

This hands-on handgun maintenance class will teach you how to perform cleaning, inspection, lubrication, function testing and other basics of firearms maintenance. Prepare to get your hands a little dirty as we take your dirty handgun and return it to a ready-to-fire condition.
Cleaning tools and supplies will be provided for use in the class. kits are available for purchase if needed
Centerfire only, no .22’s.

“To teach basic information on how to safely, effectively clean, lubricate your handgun and other basics of firearm's maintenance.”
Prerequisites
The are no prerequisites for taking this course. Show up with a good attitude and a willingness to learn.
